I just discovered this about 2 weeks ago [delayed blogging reaction] but this feature was added sometime last month. I’m glad it’s available.
To enhance security, you can set secure browsing whenever possible. To enable this, just go to
Account > Account Settings > Account Security > Secure Browsing (HTTPS) .
This can make Facebook browsing a bit slower, and when using some 3rd party application, you may have to revert back to the non secure setting. But this is a welcome development and IMO, a “must apply” setting. This prevents hackers from snooping in your password and other info whenever you are in an open and unsecured network.

Very nice to have a SSL certificate for that. Facebook paid for it, might as well as take advantage of it. ^_^
