In case you are not aware yet, Foursquare will change it’s privacy policy effective January 28, 2013. The highlights  are:

  • Your names will be published in full, instead of the usual name and surname initial (i.e. from Sonnie S. to Sonnie Santos).
  • Giving establishment owners privilege to access check-in history more than the ‘past 3 hours rule’. of Foursquare users to their establishment.

For more details, go and read foursquare’s new privacy policy.

And to avoid user negative reaction, foursquare also published a document entitled ‘Privacy 101‘ to ensure Foursquare and their users are on the same page on privacy issues. Foursquare is set to email all of its users to cascade and explain the changes.
